The Advanced Placement Program

College-level courses and exams,
taken in high school.

With qualifying AP Exam scores, students can earn college credit, advanced placement, or both. Launched in 1955, the program now lets secondary students worldwide complete university-level coursework across 40 subjects.

Nearly all colleges and universities in the United States, and more than 500 universities across over 75 countries — including the UK, Canada, Singapore, Europe and the Middle East — accept AP credits for qualifying AP scores. Many universities also consider AP scores in admissions, placement and scholarship decisions.

AP Exams are administered once each year, during the first two weeks of May. Students are strongly encouraged to register in the first window, between September and November of the preceding year, to allow ample time to prepare.

What AP gives a student
  • Stand out to colleges
  • An edge once at college
  • Earn credit and placement
  • Skip introductory classes
  • Save on tuition
  • Keep your options open
  • Develop college-level skills
  • Boost your GPA

Research consistently shows AP students are better prepared for college than those who don't take AP — regardless of exam score. They are more likely to enrol, stay, perform well and graduate in four years.

Center policies & registration

Everything you need, before you register.

Test centers operate independently, so exam offerings, deadlines, fees and refund policies vary between them. The sections below apply specifically to the MDIS test center.

1Registration & deadlines

Registration for the regular window opens on September 15, 2026 and closes on October 30, 2026, 12:00 PM IST. To reserve a seat you must complete all of the following within the window:

  • Register for every intended AP exam on the College Board's My AP portal, using the MDIS join code for each subject
  • Pay the exam fee directly to the MDIS test center
  • Email proof of payment to the AP Coordinator apcoordinator@mdis.net
Deadlines are final. No extensions will be granted under any circumstances. Payment must reach the test center within 5 business days of completing online registration, or by October 30, 2026 — whichever comes first. If you register and fail to submit payment details, you will be removed from the exam roster.

Open My AP to register →  ·  Create an account only if you do not already have one for SAT, PSAT or AP.

Always create and update your College Board account using your legal first name and legal last name exactly as they appear on the passport you will bring to the test center. Every year, students face problems on exam day because their account name does not match their ID.
